A poll finds Republicans facing a late push by Democrats in some key races that will determine which party runs the New York state Senate.
Republicans now have a 33-29 majority.
The Siena College poll shows Democrat Ted O’Brien overtaking Republican Sean Hanna in the 55th Senate District in Monroe County, 50 percent to 39 percent.
In the new 46th district, Republican Assemblyman George Amedore leads Cecliia Tkazyk 47 percent to 44 percent. The district winds from Montgomery County to Ulster County.
Siena questioned voters Tuesday through Thursday. It questioned 476 likely voters in the 55th District where the results had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points. It questioned 461 likely voters in the 46th district where the margin of error was 4.6 points.
