Mike from Buffalo & Limburger

I have heard from a number of you about Limburger cheese, the one that surprised me the most was my cousin’s boyfriend; let’s call him Mike from Buffalo. Mike from Buffalo AND his father likes the stuff and says there is an old bar/restaurant in East Aurora called Wallenwein’s that still serves Limburger with onion sandwiches and if the mood strikes, you’re able to throw some liverwurst in the mix for good measure! Yech...

Mike from Buffalo also says that years ago there was a suburb that used to have an annual Limburger Festival; it doesn’t matter if you knew where it was because when you got off the Thruway all you would have to do is play Follow That Foul Smell! I can’t figure out why it doesn’t still take place… it is probably the only case of not-in-my-backyard that everyone would agree on. I see Mike from Buffalo frequently and I usually see his father at least once during the summer so the next time I see them together I will be breaking out the smelly crap to watch them eat, from at least 10 yards away!My garden is starting to fill up nicely with yellow and green beans, peas, eggplant, squash, 4 kinds of tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes, several types of peppers and 31 raspberry plants. I know you’re asking why 31 instead of 30? I thought I bought a bundle of 25 + 5, not sure who miscounted but I would like to think that a can count to 5 when called upon to do so.

The 5 ducks that I am raising turned out to be 3 hens and 2 drakes; I’m going to label them so I can compare the taste from one sex to the other. My pig is also getting big quickly, I feed them organic grain and all the vegetable scraps from the yacht club, no sense in letting them go to waste. They are all on course for late a summer, early fall demise.
