The Rochester Knighthawks have acquired the rights to Cazenovia native Jamison Koesterer from the Washington Stealth for a conditional third-round pick.
The 27-year-old has played three seasons in the National Lacrosse League, the last two with Washington. He has appeared in 29 games and recorded four assists, 408 faceoff wins and 154 loose balls.
Koesterer broke into the league in 2009 with the Portland LumberJax. He was acquired by the Buffalo Bandits in 2010 and traded from there to the Stealth, where he helped the team win the 2010 NLL Championship.
The 6-foot-3, 235-pound Koesterer won two national championships in his four years at Johns Hopkins University (2004-07). He is currently an assistant coach there.
In return for Koesterer, Washington will receive a selection in the 2012 NLL Entry Draft. The compensation will be determined by the number of games he plays for Rochester during the next two seasons.
The Knighthawks are currently in second place in the East Division with a 5-5 record. The team will host the Toronto Rock at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 24 at Blue Cross Arena.
