The future of Monroe Avenue in Brighton will be discussed in a special meeting June 5.

Brighton residents and Monroe Avenue business and property owners are invited to a design charrette at the Brighton High School Cafeteria, 1150 Winton Road S. Registration is from 8:30 to 9 a.m. The event will run until 4 p.m.

The goal of the charrette is to create a locally sustainable, vibrant main street along Monroe Avenue that supports and strengthens Brighton’s commercial base, while maintaining the neighborhood’s character.

“The charrette is an exciting opportunity for us to come together and develop a vision for the future of Monroe Avenue that will benefit individuals, businesses and neighborhoods,” said Councilwoman Sheila Gaddis who is chairing the Charrette Steering Committee.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet with residents, business owners, landscapers, architects and developers, as well as Town Board members to discuss desired future improvements to the Monroe Avenue corridor in Brighton.

“This is a unique opportunity for citizens and stakeholders to voice their opinion on the design of Monroe Avenue and work closely with facilitators to make sure their opinion is heard,” said Brighton Supervisor Sandra Frankel.
