A perfect place to pamper small pooches just opened in Pittsford.
In fact, it’s A Dog’s Dream — which is, in fact, the name of the new business owned by Stephanie Mills of Greece.
“We are a doggy daycare, primarily,” she said.
Small dogs can get full spa treatment including a bath, brush and style. They can even get a facial or a paw soak, or have their nails done. Or, they can just come to play in the 600-square-foot play area — all day, or perhaps for an hour’s play date with other dogs, including Mills’ dog Eddie.
In addition, training is available for dogs of all sizes from Sherri Romig, owner of Tails of Success. Grooming is offered by Jennifer Quinn of Henrietta.
“This is something that has kind of always been in the back of my mind,” Mills said. “I’ve always had a passion for dogs. From the time I was very young, I’ve had a passion for all animals.”
Coming soon is a Zen Den where the little dogs can relax with an hour of therapy in a quiet, soothing room filled with stress-relieving natural pheromones and soft music. Mills also plans to offer doggy massages and yoga for dogs — also called doga.
If the dogs get hungry or feel like a treat, there are some in the cookie jar or baked goods from A Barker’s Dozen. Mills also sells a variety of toys, collars and other accessories.
Mills grew up in the Syracuse area, where she also first learned of doggy daycares.
“I had never heard of that before,” she said. “To me, it was a new concept and very unique. I want to try to have services that are a little different and help me stand out from the crowd. In my opinion, this is a truly unique place for dogs to come in Rochester. I strived to make it very spa-like, from the music to the fragrances.”
