Green Tip: Easy Ways to Save Electricity

Print Comment

undefinedThere are a number of simple ways to save on electrical energy. Carl Seville offers several good tips. Seville, a green building consultant who works with Atlanta electrical contractors, said that one simple way to cut electrical costs during the summer is to turn off ceiling fans when you are not in the room. If it's hard to remember to flip the switch, Seville suggests investing in timers or occupancy sensors. Other suggestions include turning off your bathroom exhaust after 25 to 30 minutes and making sure you are turning your heating and cooling systems up and down in relation to the outside temperatures if you don't have a programmable thermostat. With the exhaust fans, unless ducts are really well-sealed, you can bring in unwanted hot or cold air.
