A pair of Brighton students were recognized in the Writers and Books Poetry Contest.
Yawen Ding, a third-grader at French Road Elementary School, was the contest winner of her grade level. Avery Garratt, a first-grader at Council Rock Primary School, was the runner-up in her grade level.
The Brighton Town Board recognized the students at its June 23 meeting. The girls read their poems to the board.
