Rochester —
The Genesee Center for the Arts & Education will host the First Annual Spokes & Ink Bike and Poster Party.
The party will be held from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27 with the purpose of uniting the community with a celebration of bikes, art, music, local small businesses and Rochester-brewed beer. The event includes a poster sale, live music, merchandise booths from local bike shops and businesses, and hands-on activities. Two bicycle racks with security will be provided to ensure your ride is kept safe. A juried poster show consisting of 30 cycling-inspired posters will be displayed in the Center’s Firehouse Gallery. Each print is locally produced by a graphic artist, letterpress artist, or photographer, and sells for an affordable price. R Community Bikes, a nonprofit organization that redistributes unwanted bikes, free of charge, to needy members of the community, will host a bike drop-off collection. Local bands scheduled to play at the festival include Moho Collective, Veluxe, This is Not Cake and The Astoria Project. Food vendors will include DogTown Hots, Snow Daze and Joe Bean Coffee Roasters. For the adults, 3 Heads beer will be on hand and will also have nonalcoholic beverages.
The event is free and sponsored in part by DogTown Hots and City Newspaper.
The festival will take place in two locations: The Genesee Center building historic firehouse at 713 Monroe Ave., and in the Church of the Blessed Sacrament parking lot, directly across the street. For more information, visit www.geneseearts.org/spokesandink or call 585-244-1730.
