Bonnie Haugh has been named the “Woman of the Year” by the Women’s Club of Pittsford. The club annually honors a member who has made an outstanding contribution to the club.
“I’ve met amazing women,” Haugh said of her participation in the club. “I’ve had so much fun. It has so much to offer.”
The background
Haugh joined the Women’s Club of Pittsford in 1993.
“When I came (to Pittsford), I had no family (here),” she said. “I was looking for a way to do something productive and also meet people. We’ve become best friends, and they made me part of the community.”
Since joining, Haugh has chaired committees and was co-president from 2010-11. Among the service activities she’s participated in with the club have been preparing meals for the Ronald McDonald House, helping at Pittsford town and Pittsford senior citizen events, and sewing and hanging curtains for the Alternatives for Battered Women’s shelter.
In her own words
“I’m surprised and humbled,” Haugh said, about receiving the “Woman of the Year” award. “There are so many women in the club who deserve this and work very hard.”
