Chris Reape, a 2011 graduate of Brighton High School, finished a stellar freshman year at the University at Buffalo where he competed at the Penn Relays and set a school record in the high jump after clearing 6-9 at the Mid American Conference Championships held in Michigan.
Reape has continued his success back home this summer competing in the Rochester Summer Track Seris on Tuesday nights at Penfield High School. Reape jumped 6-8 on June 26 to tie the Rochester Summer Track Series record that was set 34 years ago by Steve Pace.
Reape earned four letters during his time on the Brighton track team. He finished fifth and sixth outdoors at the state championship meet and set the Barons school record clearing 6-6 in the high jump.
Reape was second on UB in both seasons in the high jump, clearing 6-8 both seasons.
The Tuesday night series is a community event taking place every Tuesday until July 23. The meet begins at 6 p.m. at Penfield High School and registration kicks off at 5:30.
The fee is $5 for 17 and younger or $7 for adults and you can compete in up to three track and field events. People of all ages from the under five-year-old 50 meter dash to retirees running the Masters mile participate.
