The Red Raiders struck first to break the scoreless streak as Tylyn Martin scored on a rebound. The Knights gained momentum going into halftime as Amy Fasel knocked in a rebound with 1:54 remaining in the half to tie the game.
Sutherland took their first lead 55 seconds into the second half as Christine Molinari scored on a deflection. Lisa Tartaglia pushed the Knights advantage to two goals when she knocked in a shot after getting behind Fairport goalie Sara Cook with 24:30 left in the game.
The Red Raiders cut into the deficit just over four minutes later as Kelly Consadine scored on a breakaway. Sutherland pushed the lead back to two as Camerann Smith scored.
Fasel sealed the victory, with two goals within 30 seconds of each other later in the second half. Fasel finished with a hat trick in the victory.
The Knights are back in action at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hilton. Fairport returns to the field at 5:30 p.m. Saturday when they host undefeated Pittsford Mendon.
