March is nationally recognized as Music In Our Schools Month, an event begun by the National Association for Music Education in 1985 to raise awareness of the importance of music education for all children.
Pittsford's Allendale Columbia School celebrated with a concert to mark the event on March 27 at 7pm in its Curtis Performance Center located at 519 Allens Creek Road in Pittsford.
More than 120 students in grades 5 through 12 participated in the concert. The ensembles, under the direction of Allendale Columbia School’s music department, performed a variety of vocal, instrumental, and dance selections. Special features took place throughout the evening including a senior class highlight and faculty guest appearances.
