Brighton Town Board member Louise Novros received the beautification award today from Brighton Neighbors United, a local watchdog group.
Judy Schwartz, chair of the organization, said the organization started giving out an annual beautification award to honor those who have made efforts to beautify the town and “be a good neighbor.”
“Louise really fought hard,” said Schwartz, “to get recycling started on the town level. It’s grown tremendously.”
Among Novros’ efforts, said Schwartz, have been starting Clean Sweep in Brighton, in its fifth year with its event this past May. She was also responsible for organizing electronics and pharmaceutical recycling and shredding events in Brighton.
“You’re the chair of the community services committee on the town board,” said Schwartz to Novros. “You just epitomize this.”
