Pittsford Sutherland fought off a late Brighton rally to earn a 2-1 win in a Monroe County Division II boys soccer game Thursday at Brighton.

With the game scoreless midway through the second quarter, the Knights gained control.
Davis Frame gave Sutherland a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal in the 54th minute. Frame beat Brighton goalie Yusuf Ozen with a low, sliding shot in the box.

Less than four minutes later, Gray Henderson scored to give Sutherland a 2-0 lead.

Sutherland had two strong chances to push the lead to 3-0, but shots by Sam Carletta and Kyle Burns went just wide.

Brighton cut the deficit in half with eight minutes remaining as Alban Zohn scored a rebound in front of the net. The Barons wouldn’t have any strong chances the rest of the game.

Cobi Beach earned the win in goal for the Knights making 12 saves, while Ozen made four saves for Brighton.

Sutherland is back in action at 4:30 p.m. Monday when they host Greece Arcadia, while the Barons host Penfield at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
