Hundreds of cyclists are making their way down the Erie Canal this week, and they'll be stopping in the village of Pittsford today.

The "Cycling the Erie Canal" tour is on its thirteenth annual run, with more than 500 participants signed up for the 400-mile trek.

The cyclists will be stopping in Pittsford around 2 p.m. at the Schoen Place waterfront, then spend the night at Nazareth College. Tomorrow, they'll head to the village of Palmyra.

The recreational ride features tours of historic landmarks, lectures, and stops at attractions like the Women's Rights National Historical Park in Seneca Falls, the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge in the Finger Lakes, Fort Stanwix National Monument in Rome, and the Erie Canal Museum in Syracuse.

The tour started on Sunday in Buffalo, and the finish line is in Albany. The ride will be completed on Sunday, July 17.

Around two-thirds of the ride takes place along completed portions of the Canalway Trail, which will be a 500-mile stretch across the state when it's completed.

The ride is hosted by a parternship between New York State Canal Corporation and Parks and Trails New York.
