Boy Scout Troop 356 of Irondequoit has "adopted" an active duty unit that is currently serving in the Middle East.
The deputy commander of the Medical Command Brigade Headquarters Unit is Lt. Colonel George Cressman - USAR, a friend of Assistant Scoutmaster Nic Colasurdo of Irondequoit.
There will be boxes placed at two Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha worship sites, at St. Cecilia's, and St, Margaret Mary, beginning this weekend, July 7 and 8.
The intent is to collect donations up until Sep. 14. at which time the Scouts will pack the collected items and ship them to Lt. Colonel Cressman for distribution to the soldiers.
Colasurdo and the Scouts did already pack and ship 15 boxes of hygenic supplies, dried fruit, DVDs, etc. on May 31. They are now collecting for their second shipment.
If you need assistance with the pickup of donations, contact, Nic Colasurdo at(585) 544 - 0393.
If you have questions regarding the items to be donated, contact Ann Cannarozzo at annmargaret64@gmail.com
