Republican/Independence candidate Bill Nojay has defeated Democratic candidate Randy Weaver and Conservative candidate Richard Burke for the 133rd District of the New York State Assembly seat.
"Monroe county republicans know how to win races," Nojay said in his victory speech. "With the ups and the downs, we weather it through."
The 133rd District of the New York State Assembly includes parts of Monroe County, including Pittsford, Mendon, Rush and Wheatland.
The results came from the Monroe County Board of Elections shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday night. Nojay came away with 52 percent of the vote while Weaver garnered 41 percent of the vote.
