As part of its participation in the Firefighter Association of the State of New York (FASNY) initiative, Recruit NY, the Bushnell’s Basin Fire Department will open its doors to the community from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 9, and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 10.
Volunteer fire departments will reach out to the community in an effort to showcase volunteering opportunities, answer questions, and provide general information about the volunteer fire department.
Men and women who are at least 18 years old are welcome, and those between ages 14 to 18 years old can take part in a Fire Explorer Post with the Boy Scouts of America.
Residents will be invited in to check out the facility, vehicles, and equipment, meet their volunteer firefighters, and try on firefighting gear, test firefighting equipment, and take pictures.
