Rochester Institute of Technology is hosting a half-day conference July 25 focusing on capitalizing on New York state’s agriculture to spur economic growth and job creation in the nine-county Finger Lakes region. The Finger Lakes Food Processing Cluster Initiative Conference will be held 8 to 11 a.m. in Golisano Hall auditorium.
Speakers in a business-leader panel and breakout sessions will also discuss food waste-to-energy initiatives, innovative packaging, buying/selling local, exporting, supply chains and the agricultural benefits of the region.
Speakers include: Patrick Hooker, director of agribusiness development at Empire State Development; Tim McCall, Rochester branch director of the U.S. Commercial Service, Department of Commerce and International Trade Administration; and Dan Johnson, RIT professor and chair of manufacturing and mechanical engineering technology/packaging science.
