Rochester Institute of Technology's University Gallery will be displaying Doug Manchee's creative interpretations on 20 of the world's most famous paintings.
The exhibition, titled "20 Works of Art in the Age of Digital Replication," will be open now through March 2 in the University Gallery, located in James E. Booth Hall adjacent to RITs Vignelli Center for Design Studies. A reception with the artist will be held from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 23.
Manchee has digitally recreated 20 iconic paintings from history using 20 scans of each painting and blending them together. The result is blurred but still recognizable versions of these famous images.
The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. For additional information, contact University Gallery Manager Jessica Erickson at 585-475-2404, or jleugs@rit.edu.
