HCR Home Care was recently recognized as a top performer in LGBTQ health care equality.
The Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the educational arm of the country’s largest LGBTQ civil rights organization, cited HCR as a top performer in its 2017 Health Care Equality Index.
To achieve this honor, HCR Home Care met key criteria in LGBTQ-inclusive policies and practices in four areas: patient-centered care, patient services and support, inclusive employee benefits and policies and patient and community engagement.
“HCR is deeply committed to inclusive and equitable care for all of the people we serve, including the LGBTQ community,” said Elizabeth Zicari, president of HCR. “We are delighted that our LGBTQ policies and services have again been recognized by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.”
The Healthcare Equality Index is a national LGBTQ benchmarking tool that evaluates health care facilities’ policies and practices related to the equity and inclusion of their LGBTQ patients, visitors and employees.
“This recognition is a testament to the work our team does each and every day to treat our LGBTQ employees and patients equally and inclusively,” said Leslie Alvarado, team leader and senior medical social worker.
