U.S. Rep. Louise Slaughter, D-25th Dist., recently announced that the 2017 Congressional Arts Competition is open for submissions through April 29 at Memorial Art Gallery, 500 University Ave., Rochester.
The competition is open to high school students who reside or attend school in New York’s 25th Congressional District. The winning student’s artwork will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol.
“I am always impressed by the skill and talent showcased every year in the artwork submitted by students across western New York,” said Slaughter, co-chairman of the bipartisan Congressional Arts Caucus. “I encourage all students to consider submitting their work of art for this competition. It is an incredible opportunity to have your work showcased in the halls of Congress.”
The exhibition will feature artwork from congressional districts across the nation. All entries must be an original in concept, design and execution. Artwork categories are paintings, drawings, collage, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art and photography.
