I think the new move to prevent bullying in school is just a front to make it look like the school is doing something.

My daughter 14, a special ed student from Greece Apollo Middle School, was assaulted the same week school bus attendant Karen Klein made headline news. Although what happened to her was from children of the same age group, she was not physically assaulted as was my daughter. My daughter was jumped from behind by a regular ed student; her head was smashed into a locker so hard that she had to go to Unity Hospital for an MRI. A police officer was called to take a report at Unity of the incident. The MRI showed no concussion, but my daughter had multiple bruises and contusions. The doctor wrote it down as an assault, I guess because of the type of wounds. However, after receiving the police report several days later, the child who hurt my daughter was only written up for aggravated harassment. The school is not allowed to disclose information to us other than the student was suspended for the rest of the school year — three days and maybe a little into the next school year. I understand that Klein’s harassment kids had been suspended for a year and community service.

What is wrong with this picture? I will tell you. My daughter was severely injured and still complains of pain, and her attacker was not charged with assault or suspended for long enough in my opinion. I was told by the school’s vice principal, her parents thought her few days’ suspension was too severe at the same time I was at the hospital for my daughter’s X-ray and MRI test.
