LETTER: Commercial interests trumped residents' concerns

I read with interest the June 7 article regarding the building of a Tim Hortons which will be located at 2190 East Henrietta Road.

My property will also be adversely affected by this construction. We submitted letters to the Town Board and Planning Board and spoke two times at the Town Board meeting voicing our objections to this project.

While the property at 2190 East Henrietta Road is zoned commercial, it required a special use permit to operate a fast-food restaurant, which the Town Board unfortunately approved. We pleaded with the Town Board to deny, given the  negative impact this project would have on property values, noise, light and sound pollution. The only concession the Town Board was willing to grant was that hours would be 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. rather than 24 hours.

The Town Board seems out of touch and appears more concerned about pleasing commercial interests versus those of longtime residents. It is disappointing that this is what our elected town officials visualize for Henrietta. It is obvious they have no concern for the faithful citizens of Henrietta who have paid their taxes and lovingly taken care of their property for over 50 years.
