My name is Wade Barnett and I reside at 295 Harwick Road, Rochester. I am a member of Carpenters Local #276. I am writing in support of the Baytowne rezoning, which includes relocation of Walmart to a supercenter in Baytowne Plaza.
According to the SEQR Findings Statement put forth by the Planning Board, CP-02 combines features from two reviewed alternatives, RES-15 and COM-50, and permits the economic development deemed important to the town; provides maximum separation and natural buffering between existing residential neighborhoods and future commercial activities; and adequately demonstrates that any environmental impacts have been mitigated. In the Findings Statement, the Planning Board states that the project will likely not result in any potential decrease in property values. The Planning Board also determined that there are adequate measures proposed as mitigation to minimize or eliminate the potential noise impacts resulting from this project. The Planning Board also states that the best economic stimulus for local businesses would be to commit to a redevelopment plan and that the resulting redevelopment expansion modeled after the features contained in CP-02 provides an appropriate balance of protection of the residential character of the surrounding neighborhoods and the necessary economic benefits desired by the town and the DiMarco Group.
The new Walmart Supercenter and the entire Baytowne changes will result in hundreds of new jobs, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional tax revenue for towns, schools and the county. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.
