The Pittsford Sutherland field hockey team added a fifth straight shutout to their record last week with a win over Webster Thomas on Thursday. It was the first turf game for the varsity team in two weeks.

Sutherland dominated the game but a strong Thomas defense blocked many scoring opportunities in the first half. The Knights had four corner shots in the half but were unable to get any past the goal line.

Jamie Palmer was strong on defense and kept the ball from approaching Emmalie Drake in the goal. The first half was scoreless and it wasn’t until halfway thru the second half that Camerann  Smith was able to put the first goal on the board for the Knights.

An injury to Paige Wolcott pushed Kelsie Schindler back into defense and moved Carley Moynihan up on offense. With just over two minutes remaining in the game, Cam Smith passed the ball to Christine Molinari who scored the second goal.

The final of 2-0 improved the Knights record to  5-1 with the only two goals scored against the team this season having occurred in the season opener.
