“Mercy/McQuaid Sailing Team competed very well in very trying conditions this weekend,” said Jimmy Carminati, Mercy/McQuaid head coach.
“We had a great group of kids that never gave up and showed great attitudes and sportsmanship all weekend. With light and shifty winds on Saturday we were in ninth place at the end of the day. Sunday’s conditions proved to be much windier and still very shifty.
With 10 races sailed on Sunday we climbed to third place overall. It was a great regatta for this team having learned valuable lessons and looking forward to future events.”
This coming weekend the team travels to the MASSA (Mid-Atlantic Scholastic Sailing Association) Fall fleet racing championships at Stonybrook School in Port Jefferson (Long Island).
