The Brighton baseball team hit three home runs as they erased a 10-1 deficit en route to a 17-10 victory over Greece Odyssey Friday at Greece Apollo Middle School.
The Barons started the rally by scoring seven runs in the top of the third inning.
Ernie Clement tripled to lead off the inning and then scored on a wild pitch to start the rally. Matt Sant-Miller drew a bases loaded walk, plating Taylor Hogan who reached on a single.
Josh Thomas gave Brighton their second run of the inning hitting an RBI single with one out. MIchael Finestone provided the biggest hit of game hitting a grand slam to bring the Barons within two.
Brighton scored three more runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a lead they would not relinquish. Miller, Will Beers and Joey Alloco recorded RBI hits in the inning to knock out Odyssey starter Jamie Magoone.
Alex El-Ani kept the momentum for the Barons with a solo home run to lead off the fifth inning. Ryan O’Connor recorded an RBI double in the sixth.
Brighton secured the victory with four runs in the top of the seventh inning including a two-run home by Doug Aldridge.
The Leopards gained the advantage in the first inning with six runs. The first five Odyssey batters reached base and Tyler Smola and John Henderson started the run with an RBI single and double respectively.
The Leopards showed tremendous patience in the inning drawing four walks. The Barons scored their first run in the top of the second inning on an Alloco sacrifice fly.
Odyssey responded with four runs in the bottom of the second. Jason Karol drew a walk with the bases loaded to give the Leopards their seventh run of the game. Zach Lynch plated three more runs with an RBI single that also featured an error.
Alloco earned the win for Brighton surrendering only one hit in 5-2/3 innings in relief. Clement finished a single short of the cycle, while Jake Phelan finished 2-for-4 to lead Odyssey offensively.
The Barons are back in action at 4:30 p.m. Monday when they play at Pittsford Sutherland, while the Leopards play at Notre-Dame Batavia at 7 p.m. Monday.
