Pittsford, N.Y. —
Last weekend was the Monroe County Varsity Cheerleading Competition. It’s a huge event for the teams.
In Division I: Fairport won first place, Webster Thomas won second and Pittsford won third place.
In addition, All County team selections were announced. Seven Pittsford cheerleaders were honored.
First Team: Kathryn Steenberge (Sutherland, senior, captain), Alyssa Greene (Sutherland, senior, captain), Sarah Deckman (Mendon, senior, captain), and Amanda Philbrick (Sutherland, senior).
Second Team: Anna Grace Kelly (Mendon, junior), Heather Stone (Sutherland, junior), and Brittany Dey (Mendon, junior). Pittsford Cheerleaders are placed on the All County Division III team - to line up with the placement of the Mendon and Sutherland basketball teams.
Pittsford Cheerleading has come a long way in the past few years under the direction of our coaching staff, head coach Rachael Weise, coach Linda Gabbert, assistant coach Gina Roselli. The fact that Pittsford placed in the top three in our division.
Pittsford and the rest of the Monroe County cheerleading teams will compete in the Section 5 championships on Feb. 25 at RIT.
